Life and performance coaching is such a new industry that only about half of the population know about its existence, and of those people even less have a well-versed knowledge of what it really entails.
The coaching service only took off within the past 10 years and because it is usually just 1 on 1, the entire process really depends on who the coach is and can dramatically vary from one coach to the next based on their style.
Unlike counselling or therapy, coaching has no set scope of practice. Nor does it have any regulations or limiting boundaries. It is completely up to the coach what he/she wishes to do in order to achieve the client’s desired results.
This is one of the main reasons why coaching is such an expanding and flourishing industry. It doesn’t have to be a long drawn out process of talking about the past or previous problems. Nor does it have to take years and years in order to make a change. Coaching is much more solution-focused and based in the present. Results can happen very quickly and efficiently.
Many times people will walk into a coaching or therapy session with a problem. They have had this problem for months or years and it is almost all they think about. They sit down with the therapist and dive right into the problem and talk about it for hours. More often than not, this way of focusing on the problem and going about it in the same way and same point of view will never equal change. The key is to go after the change in a different way, a way that allows the client to be in a resourceful and empowered state of mind and to be able to see the “problem” from different points of view with increased resources and tools.
It’s not about me having all the answers or telling you what to do. Instead, I will help you develop your own answers. You can expect to have more internal resources developed and different perspectives to look from. You can expect to have a good understanding of the Six Human Needs model, which explains so many emotions/actions like anger, depression, anxiety, self-sabotage etc. You can expect to learn and use NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) exercises to help change and maintain states and open up new perspectives. Lastly you can expect change. I strongly believe that everyone can change, and that it can happen in a very short amount of time. In our session you can expect me to do everything in my power to help you achieve your desired result.
